Cape Town Folk & Acoustic Music Festival

I remember growing up with the sounds of Donovan, Joan Baez and Bob Dylan – listening to LPs and 7-singles on a portable Phillips turntable – it took me to another world.

The 9th Cape Town Folk & Acoustic Music Festival, which was held at the beautiful botanic gardens of Kirstenbosch, took me back to that world. One where it is all about the music, real heartfelt lyrics with good tunes. good vibes and great people.

I really love what Gavin Minter has managed to put together and absolutely mastered!

Bringing together some of the usual suspects like Albert Frost and The Blues Broers, Crimson House a collaboration between Natasha Meister and Rory Eliot (Plushmixed with a few under currents like Majozi (got to love this guy!) featuring Touchwood and Fruit Vendor (who KNOWS that music is a real carreer!) Manouche and Donovan Copley (Hot Water) who managed to get the crowd on their feet, to movers and shakers like BlackByrd  and internationally acclaimed Kahn Morbee  and Farryl Purkiss.

It is so refreshing to see all this talent “home-grown” at the foot of Table Mountain literally in our backyard!

I SUPPORT SOUTH AFRICAN MUSIC!
